Once the blocks
of stone have been quarried, they must be transformed
into products that can be used in construction. This
transformation takes place in Rocamat's 16
factories and workshops.
The first operation entails using heavy machinery : gangsaws,
disk
saws or even block
trimmers, to saw the block in to slaps.
Depending on their thicknesses, the slabs
are referred to as thin or thick.
The second operation is cutting
the slabs.
The procedure depends on the desired end product and is more
or less complex. Thin slabs are worked on to obtain marble
masonry, flooring, or facade cladding products. Thick slabs
are used for manufacturing construction elements (load-bearing
walls and non-load-bearing walls), or for creating cut or
sculpted pieces such as balusters, cornices, fireplaces or
decorative items.
